FEATURED CASE STUDY
New Hangar - Shannon Airport
The provision of a full lightning protection and earthing system for the construction of a new hangar at Shannon Airport was given to Direct Strike Ltd. The building of such a crucial infrastructure facility involved adherence to ISEN 62305 standards, in such a manner that a structure is shielded from lightning strikes and electric surges.

Project Overview
Our Role
System Design & Installation: Delivered a compliant lightning protection system tailored to the unique requirements of the hangar.
System Commissioning: Conducted rigorous performance and safety checks to guarantee operational reliability.
Taxiway Lighting Earthing: Installed a robust earthing network to support critical taxiway lighting, ensuring uninterrupted and safe airfield operations.
Challenges & Solutions
Working in a live aviation environment, our team coordinated closely with airport authorities to meet strict safety protocols while avoiding disruption to daily operations. This required meticulous scheduling, phased delivery, and the highest attention to on-site safety.
Outcome
The project was completed on schedule and to specification, with all systems certified to the highest performance standards. Today, the hangar and associated taxiway lighting benefit from long-term resilience, operational safety, and compliance, supporting Shannon Airport’s role as one of Ireland’s key aviation hubs.
